1 John 3:18
“Let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”
To every business owner, entrepreneur and person trying to build something:
Sometimes we forget that God has always used people in the marketplace.
Adam worked the garden.
Noah was a farmer and builder.
Abraham was a shepherd and herdsman.
Joseph became an administrator.
Moses was a shepherd.
David was a shepherd.
Matthew was a tax collector.
Peter, Andrew, James and John were fishermen.
Lydia was a seller of purple goods.
Priscilla, Aquila and Paul were tentmakers.
Luke was a physician.
These weren’t professors or people sitting behind a pulpit.
They worked.
And God used them right where they were.
So don’t think your business is separate from your faith.
Your shop can be your ministry.
Your office can be your ministry.
Your clients can be your ministry.
Your employees can be your ministry.
When you treat people honestly, pay fairly, keep your word, help another business owner, encourage someone who is struggling and give when you can — you are putting your faith into action.
That’s why 1 John 3:18 says:
Don’t just love in words. Love in deeds and in truth.
To the business owner who is struggling right now:
Don’t give up.
You may be building something nobody else can see yet.
Noah built before the rain came.
David served before he became king.
Joseph prepared before the famine came.
Your small beginning does not mean God has forgotten you.
But remember something else
Your business is not your identity.
Your turnover isn’t your worth.
Your followers aren’t your value.
Your failures don’t make you a failure.
Work hard. Build your dream. Serve people.
But don’t forget to be YOU.
Rest when you need to.
Pray Always.
Take the day off.
Spend time with your family.
Breathe.
Because God doesn’t only care about what you’re building.
He cares about the person you are becoming while you build it.
So go into your business today with this thought:
“I am not just building a business. I am building something that can be used by God.”
Amen.
