Abraham – Trusting God’s Promises
“Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.” — Genesis 15:6 (NIV)
Welcome to Bible Study 3 of our Walking with God series.
Yesterday we learned how Noah trusted God and obeyed Him even when the world around him rejected God’s ways. Noah’s faith reminds us that obedience brings blessing.
This week, we meet Abraham, a man whom God called to leave everything he knew and follow Him into the unknown. Abraham’s journey teaches us that faith is not simply believing that God exists—it is trusting His promises even when we cannot yet see how they will be fulfilled.
Through Abraham, God established a covenant that would bless all nations and ultimately point to Yeshua, our Messiah.
Let’s Pray
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always keeping Your promises. As we study the life of Abraham, teach us to trust You completely, even when we cannot see the full picture. Strengthen our faith, increase our obedience, and help us walk where You lead.
In Yeshua’s name, Amen.

Who Was Abraham?
The name Abraham comes from the Hebrew אַבְרָהָם (Avraham), meaning “Father of Many Nations.” He was originally called Abram, meaning “Exalted Father,” before God changed his name.
Abraham lived in the city of Ur when God called him to leave his homeland and journey to a land that God would show him. Although he did not know where he was going, Abraham obeyed because he trusted God’s voice.
God promised Abraham that he would become the father of a great nation, that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars, and that through his family all nations of the earth would be blessed. Although Abraham and Sarah waited many years for a child, God remained faithful and fulfilled His promise through the birth of Isaac.
Abraham’s willingness to offer Isaac to God demonstrated complete trust and obedience. God provided a ram in Isaac’s place, foreshadowing the sacrifice of Yeshua, the Lamb of God.
Historical Background
Abraham lived around 2,000 years before the birth of Yeshua.
He travelled from Ur of the Chaldeans to Canaan, following God’s call.
The covenant God made with Abraham became the foundation of Israel’s history and revealed His plan of redemption for the world.

• Obedience often requires leaving our comfort zone.
• God’s timing is always perfect.
• Faith grows through testing.
• God’s plans are greater than our understanding.
• Through Abraham, God prepared the way for Yeshua.
