VERRAAI… MAAR STEEDS GELIEFD!
THE BOOK OF HOSEA | DIE BOEK HOSEA
WOULD YOU STILL LOVE SOMEONE WHO BROKE YOUR HEART?
Imagine loving someone with everything you have, only to be betrayed, rejected and abandoned.
Would you walk away? Would you forgive? Would you give that person another chance?
This is the heartbreaking story of Hosea. But there is something much greater behind it!
THE STORY BEHIND HOSEA
Around 755–715 BC, the prophet Hosea delivered God’s message to the northern kingdom of Israel.
Israel was experiencing political instability, corruption, idol worship and spiritual rebellion. The people had turned their backs on the very God who had rescued and protected them.
God used Hosea’s troubled marriage to Gomer as a powerful illustration of His relationship with Israel.
Just as Gomer was unfaithful to Hosea, Israel had been unfaithful to God.
But here comes the incredible part…
GOD DID NOT STOP LOVING HIS PEOPLE!
Even while warning Israel about the consequences of its rebellion, God continued calling His people to repentance and restoration.
HOSEA 6:6 — KING JAMES VERSION
“For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.”
HOSEA 6:6 — AFRIKAANS 1933/53
“Want Ek het ‘n behae in liefde en nie in offerande nie, en in kennis van God meer as in brandoffers.”
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR US TODAY?
Some of us carry scars nobody can see.
We have made mistakes.
We have disappointed people.
We have broken promises.
We have walked away from God.
And sometimes we believe we have gone too far to return.
BUT HOSEA REMINDS US OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL!
God’s mercy is greater than our failures.
His love is not something we can earn through religious performances or empty promises.
He desires hearts that genuinely know Him, love Him and return to Him.
Forgiveness does not mean that betrayal has no consequences. But God’s grace offers the possibility of repentance, healing and restoration.
A MESSAGE FROM HUIS VAN GENADE BIKERS CHURCH
ENGLISH:
You may have fallen. You may have failed. You may even have walked away from God.
But your story does not have to end where you fell.
God is still calling you to come home.
AFRIKAANS:
Jy het dalk geval. Jy het dalk misluk. Jy het dalk selfs jou rug op God gedraai.
Maar jou verhaal hoef nie te eindig waar jy geval het nie.
God roep jou steeds om terug te kom na Hom.
REMEMBER / ONTHOU:
YOUR FAILURE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE YOUR FINAL CHAPTER!
JOU MISLUKKING HOEF NIE DIE LAASTE HOOFSTUK VAN JOU VERHAAL TE WEES NIE!
There is still hope. There is still mercy. There is still grace.
Daar is steeds hoop. Daar is steeds genade. Daar is steeds liefde.
