Happy Monday everyone
How was your weekend?
I had a lovely weekend. Not necessarily very restful, but I finally managed to catch up on some work and honestly, that alone feels like a huge weight off my shoulders. Sometimes we need rest, other times we need productivity to feel calm and back on track again.
This week’s Mom Chat Monday topic is all about kids and privacy.
I wish I could share the full story of how this topic came up because it was absolutely hilarious
But here’s the shorter version…
My husband and I have become friends with a few parents at my son’s sports practice, and on Friday we somehow ended up talking about kids and privacy. One mom confidently told us she’s always believed: “It’s my house. If I want to walk into my boys’ room, I walk in. Knocking is nonsense. They’re still small and have nothing to hide anyway.”
Well… apparently this week changed her mind a little ![]()
She didn’t actually see anything she shouldn’t have, but let’s just say there was enough suspicion (and moms just know) for her to suddenly realise her son might be getting a little too old for random barging in.
The way she told the story had us laughing so hard. It was one of those parenting moments where you realise:
* parenting comes with plenty of awkward stages,
* some things change before we feel ready,
* and there are stories only other parents would understand without thinking you’ve completely lost your mind ![]()
The dads were especially brave, teaming up to remind us that our little boys are growing up and we can’t fight nature forever. Meanwhile, us moms had at least 101 plans to keep our babies innocent forever ![]()
I even joked about creating a parental control popup saying “Mommy loves you” every time a blocked site appears. (It was just a joke
They aren’t searching for anything weird — we check. This is more about future curiosity.)
But after all the laughing, and the moms crossing their legs while laughing because… moms know why
… the serious question did come up:
How much privacy should kids actually have?
I do believe children deserve privacy too. We all want privacy. But where is the balance between giving them independence and making sure they’re still safe? How much privacy is age appropriate? When do rules start changing?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this one ![]()
Have a fantastic week!!!
